Isla & Liz made us feel very welcome. More importantly they made us feel valued & were so genuine to ensure all our beers were met. I hope you make them feel as highly appreciated as they made us feel.
If pubs were judged like Olympic events, Old Fish Market would be taking home gold medals in “accidentally staying for six hours” and “ordering just one pint that somehow becomes seven.” I'll be honest, after the first 3 I lost count so might have been 10! The atmosphere is absolute peak Bristol: lively, chaotic in the best possible way, and filled with the sort of people who look like they either own three vinyl players or know a man called Dave who definitely “used to be in a band.” The staff deserve special recognition for maintaining saint-like patience while I spent a full five minutes trying to decide between ales, only to panic-order the exact same drink as the person in front of me. True professionals. The food? Didn't order any but saw plenty of plates coming out of the kitchen which all looked dangerous. The guys next to us ordered chips “for the table” and the oldest immediately became the table’s chief security officer. Crispy, golden, and apparently capable of disappearing really fast. Also, this pub has mastered that rare magic balance: cosy enough for a quiet pint(plenty of sound asleep four legged friends) but lively enough that by 10pm you’re somehow best friends with a stranger discussing whether seagulls are secretly running Bristol. Would absolutely return. In fact, I suspect part of me never truly left.
Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very well-mannered. I visited with my partner and her son, and we found the atmosphere to be wonderfully family-friendly. There were plenty of board games available, which was a lovely touch and helped us relax and enjoy our time together. We were very pleased with both the quality of the food and the inviting atmosphere. I would happily recommend this venue to anyone looking for an authentic and traditional pub experience
A great three days at The Old Fishmarket. We were on a golf tour & Bex arranged a fab table for the ten of us, by the bar and close to the HD projector screen. Beer and food was excellent as was the service. Thanks again Bex & all the staff!!
Flat Eric started our day out in this large and rather splendid Fuller's pub. Good selection of real ales plus a real cider. A very impressive central bar with rooms all around. Lots of reserved tables for later in the day. Booth thinks music too loud for a still empty bar at noon. Gents in basement, ladies upstairs. Good looking food menu.
