Tiny rooms but clean and reasonably equipped. Service is indifferent - staff seem more concerned about their processes and paperwork than the customers. Breakfast was pretty good. Location is excellent - easy access to the harbour and the cathedral, and a short walk from the old city.
Fantastic location & within walking distance from the centre of town. Welcomed by the lovely staff at the reception desk. The room was lovely & clean. The hotel is surrounded by lots of Restaurants/bars but we were not disturbed by any noises outside. We opted for breakfast at the hotel in the morning & there was a great selection of food that would suit everyone. If we go back to Bristol we will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Location of the hotel is decent, walkable to the Bristol Beacon which we needed to be at. Other than that, we were given a room that's almost the furthest away from the lifts (a very long corridor and then round the corner and down to the end of a shorter one). It may be quiet but was a bit of a walk. The room was definitely tired. Lights were not very bright, which combined with the texture of the paint on the walls made it feel even older. Furniture were also old and not in the best condition. The composite board of the desk was peeling, as was the shelf for the suitcase. Similarly, the bathroom felt old and the ventilation barely worked. Water pressure was quite weak, even though it was at least hot. Shower pan is quite shallow, but thankfully the drainage worked well enough that we didn't have any problem with overflow. One more thing that was old - the bed. It felt like they've given up on the mattress and instead have another thin (~2 inch thick) pad on top. The bedsheet only wraps that thin pad, and even with that it wasn't a very supportive bed, and the corners of that pad were flaring upwards even before we slept on it. It was interesting to us that for a hotel with apparently so many rooms (looks like they have maybe >80 rooms per floor?) there were only two tiny lifts with 4-person capacity each. I'd expect that during busier times there could be quite a wait for these. We came down to a small queue when we left. I am quite aware that this is an ibis hotel and it's not meant to be luxury, but this isn't ibis budget either. At >£100 a night in a location that is not the most central Bristol I'd expect a room in somewhat better condition. Overall, my conclusion was that this was overpriced and need to be refurbished. For one last perspective - it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad enough to urge me to write a review either. This review is because ibis kept sending emails to pester me to write one.
I had the pleasure to spend one night with my family here and from the first step at the hotel I was welcomed with a smile and happy to help from the reception team member. Later on in the evening the barman (unfortunately i cant recall his name) served us showing profesionalism and caring. As a person working many years in hospitality and managment position I was happy to see that all staff welcomed us and showed the real values of our big family Accor. Thank you to all staff for this amazing stay.
(I booked for a double room) The hotel is well located to visit most of the city’s landmarks on foot. The room is spacious, but the bed is really hard, and I think the bed is the most important part of a hotel since you’re paying to rest. The staff were excellent, and paying for breakfast is a good deal, as there’s a decent variety. About cleanliness, there was a lot of white lint on the furniture, which stains dark clothes (bring a lint roller with you). There’s a kettle in the room to make tea or coffee.
