Arnos Manor Hotel

Stay at the Arnos Manor in July. Had to vacate our room early due to a water leak that caused water to pour onto the bed from the room above. In addition to the room issue, the parking is becoming a chore. For the third time consecutive time that I have stayed at the Arnos Monor I have received a parking fine from Parkingeye despite paying for parking at reception when checking in as I should. The notice from Parkingeye is one of those threatening letters demanding payment in 28 days. This type of casual bullying does not worry me, but some people will feel intimidated by such actions and pay the fine even though they have paid at the hotel. I have stayed at the Arnos Manor many times because it is a good price and it does offer cheap parking. But I am now at the stage where I will just pay more to stay at a better hotel with a nicer room and less hassle.
The hotel is well located for the city centre, £10 - £15 in a taxi to centre on a busy night. The hotel itself is becoming a little more shabby sadly, everytime we visit. Rooms: could be cleaned a little bit better. There was a bottle top left on the skirting board area. Bathroom was ok, cups etc looked clean and so were the towels - I always wash the cups anyway before we use them. Bed was comfy and clean. Ironing board was broken and the iron leaked so I had to ring to get them replaced. Once I got through, the replacement set arrived within 10 - 15 minutes, with apologies from the very pleasant member of staff. We didn't eat in the restaurant as the menu was a bit limited, and our friends who did weren't really impressed with the food they received. Bar was being cashed up at at 11, and couldn't get a drink at the bar as we were asked to wait until the tills came on again. We didn't know how long that would be so went to bed. Breakfast - a good selection, but the sausages could be better - too much filling rather than sausage meat. Reception and bar staff were pleasant. Parking £3 per night/24 hours. All in all mediocre.
Beautiful old building. Friendly and welcoming staff. Easy checking, parking £3.50 a day. Room was massive, comfortable, all you need for your stay. Stayed here last year and is beautiful and comfortable staff. Good price £52 a night. Only thing is room could do with touching up, to make it perfect. Not hotel fault, but one way system coming the other way have to cycle around up the top of the road.
What a wonderful stay at Arnos Manor! Kathleen gave me the warmest welcome, going out of her way to find me the best room and even remembering the next day that I loved Ghost Stories — that kind of personal touch made all the difference. The entire team, including the bar staff, were friendly and attentive. My room was quiet, spotlessly clean, and amazing value for money. Breakfast was delicious, with a special mention to Sandalee, who was so professional and made me and my guest feel completely at ease. A beautiful hotel with a team that truly cares. I'd love to come back!
