Bristol Cathedral
Bristol
Located on College Green close to the floating harbour, this wonderful cathedral has undergone many changes since an abbey was founded on the site in 1148. Step inside the Cathedral and marvel at the architecture - the interior gives the appearance of a magnificent great hall. Indeed, Bristol Cathedral is one of the finest examples of a 'Hall Church' in the world. The cathedral is often used for concerts and if you wander in on a Tuesday lunchtime during term-time you may be greeted by the beautiful sound of an organ or choral recital. To fully appreciate its splendour and history, take a guided tour of the Cathedral. If you are in need of refreshment there is a coffee shop offering light meals, home made cakes and scones. There is also a gift shop situated just inside the North Porch entrance selling souvenirs and gifts.
Please click on the website for more details and timings of musical events and tours.
It's free to go into the cathedral however, donations are welcome.
Opening Times:
The cathedral is open 365 days per year from 8am until after evensong. It very occasionally may be closed to visitors for private ceremonies or events.
The Cathedral gift shop is open from 10:15-16:00 (Monday to Friday) and 10:15-15:15 (Saturday).
