Description
Check the weather (it is England, don't forget!), pack a small bag (don't forget your camera!) and make your way to our departure point in central Cambridge. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before departure. Sit back and relax in the comfort of a luxury Mercedes mini-coach as we depart for the journey around London and south-west to Stonehenge. We will stop for a comfort break during the journey.
Stonehenge is unique. Located on the open grassland of Salisbury Plain and surrounded by numerous other monuments of prehistory, your guide will explain all about the timeline of the stone circle's existence, its connection with the landscape that surrounds it, and paint a picture of life 5000 years ago. Afterwards, there will be free time to explore the site and the fascinating exhibition at the Visitor Centre. No trip to Britain is complete without a visit to Stonehenge!
Afterwards, we take the 1-hour journey through scenic countryside to the stunning city of Bath. Throughout the journey your guide will reveal the history and charm of the English landscape as we pass through verdant farmland, quaint old villages and wooded valleys.
On arrival in the city, it's time for lunch, a visit to one of Bath's many attractions perhaps - The Roman Baths being the highlight of the city - or simply a gentle wander to soak up the atmosphere of a sophisticated city oozing with elegance and grandeur. Later, if you wish, join your guide for a meandering walk through the city to hear tales of the city's wealth and influence, and to witness its architectural gems.
Late afternoon, we wave goodbye to Bath and head on to the Cotswold hills with their spectacular views across the River Severn valley to Bristol and the hills of South Wales beyond. Then, we hit the motorways back to Cambridge - time for a snooze or some peaceful reflection. We will stop for a comfort break during the journey and aim to be back home in Cambridge by 9pm.
