Description
Day 1: Depart Bristol, crossing the River Severn into Wales. Travel through industrial areas toward the coast with a driver-guide sharing local history and legends. Visit St Fagans National Museum of History, one of Europe’s largest open-air museums, featuring relocated Welsh buildings including cottages, workshops, and St Fagans Castle and Gardens.
Continue west to Pembrokeshire, the birthplace of Wales’ patron saint, stopping for lunch in a market town before reaching the coast. Explore Pembrokeshire’s coastline with cliffs, sandy bays, and clear waters ideal for photography.
Arrive in Tenby, a medieval harbour town with historic walls, colourful houses, and beaches. Enjoy free time to explore cobbled streets, the seafront, or the beach. Have dinner in local pubs or restaurants featuring fresh seafood and regional dishes.
Day 2: Visit St Davids, Britain’s smallest city, home to its 12th-century cathedral. Explore the cathedral and local shops in a tranquil setting.
Travel to Laugharne on the River Tâf estuary to visit Dylan Thomas Boathouse or take a walk near the castle with coffee. Head inland through rolling countryside to Carreg Cennen Castle, a dramatic ruin perched on limestone with panoramic views and a natural cave beneath. Enjoy traditional Welsh cawl at a farmhouse before crossing Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. End the day in Abergavenny for overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Depart Abergavenny for Hay-on-Wye, the world’s first book town. Spend the morning browsing independent bookshops and market stalls, with time for coffee.
Cross briefly into England to Ross-on-Wye for lunch and shopping, then return to Wales to visit the 12th-century Tintern Abbey beside the River Wye. Finish in Chepstow with a walk across the Old Town Bridge, visit to the Norman castle, and estuary views before returning to Bristol around 5:15 pm.

- Luggage limit: 20kg (44lbs) per person including one small bag for onboard use plus a larger suitcase or rucksack
- Carreg Cennen Castle will be closed from 14-22 May; tours departing 19 May visit Newton House (Dinefwr) instead
